On Wednesday electric supply in the electric crematorium in Chandanwadi, Marine lines went off. This caused a ruckus, as the families of dead person had to wait for a long time to complete the funeral process. There was no generator available stated family members. Finally, the family conducted the last rite through traditional methods.
Member, Colaba (ALM) told Mumbai Live, “There is no cleanliness in the crematorium. People had to wait for such a long time for the funeral process as there was no power supply.”
Worker, Chandanwadi crematorium told Mumbai Live, “Hardly transformer suffers a problem or else it works smoothly. We don’t have the backup generator because we get round the clock power supply.”
M B Urunkar, Assistant Manager (BEST) stated that “Popatwadi transformer stopped functioning on Wednesday at 4.30 pm but the problem was resolved within 45 minutes and the situation was under control.”
