The revised guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana have been approved to be implemented in Maharashtra from the year 2023-24. Also, this scheme will be implemented with the participation of Center and State. Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Tanaji Sawant said that approval is being given to bear the entire administrative cost of the scheme from the government's own funds.


As per the “Mission Shakti” guidelines of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Central Government, a total of 14 schemes have been consolidated into two parts under Mission Shakti. There are a total of 6 schemes in the “Strength” section and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is also included in these schemes. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, the eligible beneficiary woman will get an amount of INR 5,000 in two instalments for the first child, while if the second child is a girl, a benefit of INR 6,000 will be given.

The money will be transferred through DBT in an Aadhaar linked bank account or post office account in a single step after the birth of the girl child. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the family income of the woman should be less than INR 8 lakh per year.

Also eligible to get benefits are women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, disabled persons with 40 percent and above disability, BPL ration card holders, beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Ayushman Bharat, e-Shram card holders. The beneficiaries include farmers. Kisan Samman Nidhi, MNREGA Jobs Card holder must belong to at least one of the following groups: Pregnant and lactating Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi assistants/ASHA workers.


Also, the woman will have to attach at least one copy of her identity card. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the age of the beneficiary should be minimum 18 years and maximum 55 years. The female beneficiary must submit at least one document copy of Aadhaar Card or Aadhar Enrollment (EID) document, date of last menstrual period and registration date of pregnancy, Maternal and Child Protection Card completely filled with record of antenatal check-up, certificate of beneficiary.


Bank passbook, copy of child's birth certificate, a copy of child's vaccination record page on Mother and Child Protection Card, beneficiary registration number in the RCH portal where the pregnancy is registered, beneficiary's own or family member's mobile number should be given.

For the first child, it has been reduced from 730 days to 510 days from the date of last menstruation. If the second child is a girl, the application for the benefits of the scheme should be submitted to the concerned health system within 210 days from the date of her birth.

Beneficiaries have to apply for the benefits within the stipulated period and after the expiry of the period the beneficiary will not get the benefits under the scheme. Apart from this, if the beneficiary has submitted the handwritten form, but for some reason the form is not accepted online through the new computerised system of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, then the benefit will not be payable to such beneficiary.

Women who wish to avail the benefits have been provided the facility to download the application from the website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development http://wcd.nic.in and fill the online form through Citizen Login. The beneficiary has to fill this form completely and submit it to the nearest health centre or ASHA volunteer along with all the necessary documents along with the affidavit signed by the beneficiary.
