RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das tests positive for Coronavirus

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Sunday said he had tested positive for Coronavirus. He informed via a tweet about this development and also added that he will continue to carry out his duties and that the work at RBI will not halt due to this. Das in his tweet has mentioned that he is but asymptomatic and feeling alright. He has also alerted those who had come in contact with him in the past few days. 

Currently, the RBI has full strength of four deputy governors B P Kanungo, M K Jain, M D Patra and M Rajeshwar Rao. RBI is currently under tremendous work pressure as the coronavirus crisis has impacted the economy. 

Das mentioned that he is in constant touch with senior officials and will continue to do so.

Furthermore, as per reports, the RBI headquarters in Mumbai will remain fully operational. Strict social distancing and sanitation process are being followed at RBI and the same will continue. 

In the recent few days, there have been many notable people that have informed of testing positive for Coronavirus. State Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, announced that he has tested positive on Monday. He is currently admitted in hospital and being treated.

On Saturday, October 24, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis had announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. He was touring in the flood-affected parts of Maharashtra to take stock of the situation recently. Fadnavis, the election in-charge for Bihar, has also been rallying in the eastern state for the upcoming assembly elections. 

Other politicians that have tested positive include Home Minister Amit Shah, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
