Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR), the apex body of the industry, kickstarted its vaccination drive in association with SRCC Children’s Hospital, to vaccinate 20,000 of its employees free of cost. State Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Mumbai Guardian Minister Aslam Shaikh was the Chief Guest in a camp organized in Kandivali on Friday, August 20.

The first camp was held on August 17 and it is being conducted on a daily basis at various locations in the city with 400 vaccines administered daily at one camp.

The Restaurants' Association aims to administer 20,000 free vaccines over a period of 10 days.

The vaccination drive is being carried out in a very systematic way so as to avoid crowding. There are proper checks and balances in place to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are adhered to. The registration information and data for such camps are collected well in advance to avoid any kind of wastage of vaccine.

Commenting on this drive, Shivanand Shetty, President, AHAR said, “We are grateful to SRCC for helping us in this vaccination drive to ensure that our employees are fully vaccinated and are back to work at the earliest. With no income for months, the employees had to endure a lot during this lockdown and this is to enable them to get back to work in a secure way. We are thankful to those who got vaccinated, for extending their full cooperation and request those who are yet to take their vaccine to come forward and make this drive a grand success.”

The Minister spoke to AHAR office bearers to understand more about the vaccination drive and also discussed how the industry has been hit because of the lockdown. He offered his full support to the industry and requested to get in touch with his office for any issues.
