In view of the expansion of Thane city, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde raised the issue of urgent need of 'Thane Ring Metro Project' with the Union Urban Development Minister.

During his visit to Delhi on Friday, October 6, Shinde held a crucial meeting with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, formally seeking an approval for the pending Thane ring metro project.

After the meeting at Vigyan Bhawan on the situation of extremism arising out of leftist ideology, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde immediately met Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Various infrastructure projects in urban areas of Maharashtra were discussed during the meeting.

In this meeting, the Chief Minister had a detailed discussion with the Union Minister regarding Thane Metro. There are two metro projects currently under construction in Thane city. The city is expanding and the population of the city and district is also increasing. One railway station in Thane handles 7 to 8 lakh passengers. Therefore, the detailed project report of the 29 km long Thane Ring Metro has been submitted to the Center for approval and while demanding its approval, the Chief Minister has also requested to increase the number of metro coaches.

The Thane Ring metro is poised to play a crucial role in the region's infrastructure development, making travel more convenient and efficient.
