To reduce the problem of traffic congestion on the eastern side of Thane station, the construction of the SATIS project is underway. The Thane Municipal Commissioner (TMC) Abhijit Bangar informed that the work of this SATIS project will be completed in the next eight to 10 months. If the SATIS project is completed, the additional pressure of passengers on the west will be reduced.

The eastern corner of Thane railway station has seen population growth over the past few years. Private company buses, BEST and Thane Municipal Corporation buses also ply in the east. Also, there is traffic of light vehicles plying in the eastern corner area. However, the roads here are extremely narrow. Therefore, the citizens have to suffer from traffic jams every day.

If the bus stops on the corner route, there is a big traffic jam. Due to this traffic jam many people travel from west for internal travel in Thane city. Due to this, there is a lot of stress on the passengers in the western part. To reduce the traffic congestion in Thane East, the Municipal Corporation had decided to build SATIS in the East as well as in the West. Accordingly, under the Smart City scheme, the SATIS-II project is being constructed to the east of Thane station. As part of this work, a flyover is being constructed from Tuljabhavani Temple at Kopri railway bridge to Sinchan Bhawan area at Kopri.

The TMC has erected pillars for this flyover and the work of installing girders on it is almost complete. Also, there are some works remaining in the railway boundary near Kopri railway bridge. Commissioner Abhijit Bangar explained that the work of this project will be completed in the next eight to 10 months. Also, there is a proposal for a terminus for buses in the east. He also said that after the completion of the bridge and bus terminus, the traffic in the east will also be smooth.

Once the SATIS Bridge is completed, only buses will be allowed to cross the bridge. Light vehicle traffic will be carried under the bridge. Therefore, there is a possibility that the citizens here will be freed from the traffic jam. Also, the pressure of passengers coming to Thane West will be eased.
