The theatre, which had been shut for nearly a year due to safety concerns, is currently undergoing renovation work. During the visit, officials and the actor inspected the ongoing construction and reviewed the progress of various facilities inside the auditorium.
According to the report, several key works such as makeup rooms, waiting areas, and washrooms have already been completed. Remaining work includes the auditorium ceiling, stage area, and seating arrangements, which are planned to be taken up in the next phase.
The commissioner expressed confidence that the renovation work will be completed by mid-August, with the goal of reopening the theatre around 15 August. Damle also provided suggestions related to audience comfort and performance requirements, and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work so far.
The renovation is part of a larger civic effort to restore the theatre, which had been closed after a portion of its ceiling collapsed last year, raising serious safety concerns.
