Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered to keep all schools shut in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Raigad and Palghar tomorrow, July 20.

This development came after the city, its suburbs and neighbouring districts were affected with heavy rainfall on Wednesday, July 19.

“In view of the continuous rains in Mumbai, considering the safety of the students, the Municipal Corporation has declared a holiday for tomorrow, July 20, for primary, secondary and higher secondary schools (Nursery to Class 12) of all management in the Mumbai Metropolis,” a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said.

Similarly, the Collector of Palghar district also released an official statement declaring a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district on July 20 as parts of Maharashtra is witnessing floods-like situation.

In a meeting with emergency agencies, including the national disaster response force (NDRF), state disaster response force (SDRF), and municipal corporations, the CM ensured that all units were on high alert and actively engaged in rescue operations.
