As the coronavirus cases in Mumbai has witnessed an alarming spike, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued fresh norms for the societies and high rise buildings. Accordingly, if one or more COVID-19 patients are found in a building, then the entire floor is sealed. While if more than five patients are found infected, the building is sealed by the Municipal Corporation.

However, if the building is small, the Municipal Corporation has no problem in sealing the entire building. But when there are many buildings or wings in the complex, it becomes a problem for other residents.

To avoid any inconvenience to other residents, the Municipal Corporation has adopted a policy of sealing the floors or the entire wing of the building instead of completely sealing the building. Besides, the authority to seal the building has been given to local authorities.

According to the BMC’s data, here is the list of G south ward, which includes Prabhadevi, Worli, and Lower Parel areas of Mumbai:

On Sunday, April 11, Maharashtra reported the highest single-day jump in COVID-19 cases with 63,294 new cases pushing the caseload to 34,07,245, the health department said. As many as 349 COVID-19 patients died in the state in the last 24 hours. This took the state's toll to 57,987. The case-fatality ratio stands at 1.7 per cent in the state.

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 9,989 cases and 58 deaths, which took its caseload to 5,20,214 and death toll to 12,017. The BMC has sealed more than 700 buildings in Mumbai.
