More than two months after inaugurating one section of Lower Parel's important Delisle Road over-bridge connecting GK Marg to NM Joshi Marg, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is now set to unveil the remaining section of the other connecting Lower Parel to Curry Road. BMC is planning to start it from September 19, in time for Ganeshotsav.

As per BMC officials, concreting work has been completed and efforts are going on for asphalt related works on this stretch. Following the Gokhale Bridge incident in Andheri in July 2018, in which corrosion was reported, the Delisle Bridge was closed after inspection by IIT-Bombay.

At present, all traffic is diverted to Elphinstone ROB in the north and Chinchpokli ROB in the south, both of which are also British era bridges. While the opening of a portion of the other arm will provide relief to local residents and commuters, there are concerns that the influx of devotees for Ganpati darshan in Lalbagh and surrounding areas from September 19 may put pressure on the structure.
