On Monday morning, suburban train services on the busy Central Railway route were disrupted after an empty local train coach derailed near Dombivli railway station.
The incident occurred at around 8:09 AM while the train was moving from Kalwa carshed towards Kalyan Junction railway station.
A crowd gathered near the derailed Mumbai Suburban Railway local train, while many office-goers were left waiting on platforms for incoming trains.
According to preliminary information, one coach of the empty rake derailed as it was approaching the station, temporarily affecting train movement.
Officials confirmed that since the train was not in passenger service at the time, there were no injuries or casualties. However, the derailment caused disruptions during peak morning hours, impacting suburban commuters.
Due to the obstruction on the tracks, at least three local trains were halted, delaying passengers traveling towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and other key destinations along the route.
Railway authorities quickly reached the site to assess the situation and begin repair work. Efforts were also made to restore normal services and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
The exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined, and an investigation is currently underway.
