SNDT Women’s University will soon set up a pre-incubation centre to help students turn their ideas into successful start-ups. The public university has also drafted a start-up policy for students and faculty to explore entrepreneurship on campus.

The new pre-incubation centre will act as a launchpad for young innovators. The university will identify promising ideas and connect students with industry experts for guidance and support. This centre will help students in the early stages of developing a start-up and provide them with resources before they reach the incubation level.

The university already has an incubation centre that supports registered start-ups. The new centre will help students shape their ideas into workable business plans. To promote the concept, the university will organise Innovation Mahakumbha 2025 on November 9. The event will bring together universities, industries, and innovators on one platform.

As per reports, the initiative supports the National Education Policy (NEP), which stresses the importance of entrepreneurship. The university plans to offer incentives such as academic credits for students and certifications for faculty members to promote start-up culture on campus. A new start-up policy has already been prepared and is awaiting final approval to make this possible.

The university has also designed a seven-day training programme for faculty members. It will help teachers identify potential start-up ideas from students and guide them in improving their concepts. Around 200 trained faculty members reached out to about 20,000 students across SNDT’s campuses and affiliated colleges.

From this effort, nearly 1,500 ideas were submitted for development. After evaluation, 110 innovative concepts were chosen for presentation at Innovation Mahakumbha 2025.
