State government sanctions ₹25 Cr to redevelop four suburban police stations

On the lines of Maharashtra’s first state-of-the-art police station that was inaugurated in Vile Parle last month, the state government has sanctioned ₹25 crore for redeveloping four other suburban police stations in Mumbai.

The police department has proposed six names — Govandi, Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Vakola, Goregaon, Malad and Meghwadi police stations for development.

The four-storey Vile Parle police station has two elevators, a large waiting area for complainants and a dedicated room for child survivors of sexual abuse.

Guardian minister for Mumbai suburbs Vinod Tawde said within the next two years, they intend to redevelop 18 suburban police stations.
