According to reports, hundreds of employees, which include doctors, ward boys, nurses, staged a protest after their services were terminated.

They were hired on contract by a private agency to oversee the functioning of Global COVID hospital in Thane.

On Tuesday, August 17, the agency sent notices to the majority of employees informing them about the termination of their services following a drop in the number of patients at the facility due to declining cases of coronavirus in the state and city. 

In addition, a reduction in the remuneration of existing employees angered them.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the management of the corporation-run hospital assured to look into the issue with the representatives of the employees.

Besides, the civic officials claimed that the regular functioning of the hospital was not affected by the protest.
