Both the bridges over the BMC pipeline on the newly constructed Pokhran Road No 2 that falls under Vartak Nagar Ward Committee have been opened for traffic. Commissioner Abhijit Bangar mentioned that this will help in solving the traffic jam on these roads.


Pokhran Road No. 2 has been widened. A 40 metre wide road has been constructed in this, but the work of the bridge over the BMC pipeline could not be carried out due to encroachment and other reasons. The work of the bridge on both sides has been completed recently by removing all the obstacles at this place and the said bridge has been opened for traffic. At this place, 89.60 metres of bridge has been constructed on the side of Raymond Company and 120.60 metres on the side of Subhash Nagar. As the bridge on both sides is opened for traffic, the traffic to Upvan, Vasantvihar, Glady Alwares Road, Pawar Nagar, Maharashtra Nagar, Khewra Circle, Happy Valley, Sindhdachal, Kokanipada etc. will be smooth. Also, the traffic congestion caused by the narrow bridge has also been cleared.

Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, which is located near this road, will also help in streamlining the traffic. Therefore, school children and the working class have got relief from traffic congestion.


The Municipal Corporation and other government agencies are trying to solve the problem of traffic congestion in the city by completing the pending road and bridge projects as well as proposing new routes.  Two important access roads in Thane city have been freed from traffic congestion due to the recently opened Kalwa bridge, new Kopri bridge, similarly Gandhinagar Bridge on Pokhran road no. 2 is an important link, the work of which has been pending for six years and the said bridge has been opened for traffic, in the future also efforts will be made to clear the way out of the traffic jam by completing the pending project, Bangar mentioned.
