The Thane Police have issued a traffic advisory given the upcoming roadwork scheduled between August 8 and August 11, 2025.
The roadwork is part of a geometric improvement project at Gaimukh Ghat along the Thane-Ghodbunder State Road 84 undertaken by Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC).
As per the advisory, the asphalting of the road surface will be carried out in the Ghat section on the Thane-Ghodbunder route, specifically within the jurisdiction of the Kasarvadavali and Kashmira Traffic Sub-Division.
The work will begin at 12:01 am on August 8 and continue until 5:00 am on August 11.
For this, it is necessary to close the entry of heavy and bulky vehicles and it is necessary for the convenience of the general public that there should be no traffic jam in the area of Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate, and that traffic should remain smooth and assured. Therefore, the traffic police decided to close the movement of heavy and bulky vehicles moving from Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway and divert it to an alternative route.
Thane - Ghodbunder Road
Entry closed: 1) All heavy vehicles going from Mumbai, Thane towards Ghodbunder Road are being closed at Y Junction and Kapurbawdi Junction.
Alternative route: a) All heavy vehicles going from Mumbai, Thane towards Ghodbunder Road will go straight to the desired destination via Kharegaon Toll Plaza, Mankoli, Anjurphata via Nashik Road. b) All heavy vehicles going from Mumbai, Thane towards Ghodbunder Road will take a right turn near Kapurbawdi Junction and go to the desired destination via Kasheli, Ajurphata.
Entry closed: 2) All heavy vehicles going from Mumbra, Kalwa towards Ghodbunder Road are being closed at Kharegaon Toll Plaza.
Alternative route: All vehicles going from Mumbra, Kalwa towards Ghodbunder Road will go to the desired destination via Kharegaon Khadi Bridge, Kharegaon Toll Plaza, Mankoli, Ajurphata.
Entry closed: 3) All heavy vehicles going from Nashik towards Ghodbunder Road are being 'enclosed' at Mankoli Naka.
Alternative route: All heavy vehicles going from Nashik towards Ghodbunder Road will go to the desired destination via Mankoli Bridge, taking a right turn and going to the desired destination via Ajurphata.
Ghodbunder Road - Thane
Entry closed:
1) All heavy vehicles coming from Gujarat towards Ghodbunder Road are being 'closed' at Chinchoti Naka.
2) All heavy vehicles coming from Mumbai, Virar, Vasai towards Ghodbunder Road are being 'closed' near Fountain Hotel.
Alternative route: All heavy vehicles coming from Gujarat, Mumbai, Virar, Vasai towards Ghodbunder Road will go to the desired destination from Chinchoti Naka via Kaman, Anjur Phata, Mankoli Bhinwadi.
A) Ghodbunder-Thane channel
Entry closed: 1) National Highway No. 48- Entry closed for vehicles coming from Palghar Virar side from Shirsat Phata towards Varsache side.
The alternative route will take you to the desired destination via Shirsat Phata Parol Akloli (Ganeshpuri) Ambadi.
Entry closed: 2) National Highway No. 48- Palghar- Vasai side entry closed for vehicles coming from Chinchoti Naka towards Yersaye side.
The alternative route will go to the desired destination via Chinchoti, Kaman Kharbanch, Anjurphata, Bhiwandi.
Access Closed: 3) Access to Ghodbunder Road, Thane from the Western Ring Road Mumbai and Kashimira side is being closed.
Alternate route: These vehicles will go directly from Versova Bridge to the desired destination via the Gujarat National Highway via Shirsat Phata-Parol-Akloli (Ganeshpuri) Ambadi or via Chinchoti via Kaman-Kharbaon-Anjur Phata, Bhiwandi.
B) Thane-Ghodbunder Channel
Entry closed- 1) Entry is being closed to all heavy vehicles going from Mumbai, Thane towards Ghodbunder Road at Y Junction and Kapurbawdi Junction.
Alternative route - All heavy vehicles going from Mumbai, Thane towards Ghodbunder Road will proceed directly from Y Junction to the desired destination via Nashik Road via Kharegaon Toll Plaza, Mankoli, Anjurphata.
C) Ahmedabad (Gujarat) Channel
Entry Closed: National Highway No. 84 is being restricted for heavy vehicles going to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Thane, Navi Mumbai via Ghodbunder Road, Kajupada, Gaimukh.
Alternate route: From Manor (Ten Naka), take a left turn and go to the desired destination via Posheri-Pali-Wada Naka-Shirish Pada and then Ambadi and Bhiwandi.
The said traffic control notification will not be applicable to police vehicles, fire brigade, ambulances, green corridor, oxygen gas vehicles and other essential service vehicles. Only light vehicles are being allowed to ply on the road.
