After a day’s hiatus, the petrol and diesel prices have witnessed another 80 paisa hike per litre today, March 25. This is the third increase this week itself.
An overall increase of ₹2.4 per litre after months-long hiatus as India's top fuel retailers kept fuel prices on hold during elections in five states.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the financial capital, saw a spike of 84-85 paisa per litre bringing the petrol rates at INR 112.51.
Striking an attack at Central government over the issue of inflation, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that and fuel prices hike and unemployment is the real issue.
“The real issue is not the war between Russia and Ukraine or the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ or hijab, it’s inflation and unemployment,” Raut was quoted as saying by ANI.
“Fuel prices are rising. Now that the elections are over, inflation is back. This is Bhartiya Janata Party’s game,” he added.
Meanwhile, a Congress leader said: "They are increasing prices by 80 paise, sometimes by Re 1. If they (Centre) want to increase the price, then increase it in one go. Be it ₹10, 15 and 20."
If reports are to be believed the hike is a fallout of a spike in global oil prices, especially after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
