In a recently taken decision, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) finally suspended four of its engineers who have been accused for their poor performance. Reports state that Chetan Patel, Executive Engineer - Uthalsar Ward Committee, Prakash Khadtare, Executive Engineer - Vartaknagar Ward Committee, Sandeep Sawant, Deputy Engineer - Lokmanya Nagar Savarkar Nagar Ward Committee and Sandeep Gaikwad - Junior Engineer were immediately suspended by the authorities from the civic body.

Besides this, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation issued an order following the directives given by the Guardian Minister. The order said that despite providing all the machinery and funds, the four had delayed their work and showed negligence in their performance which led to the poor conditions of the roads.

The decision was taken after Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde recently inspected the condition of roads from Mulund Toll Naka to Ghodbunder Road and from Padgha Toll Naka on Mumbai-Nashik Highway. Observing the state of the roads, he ordered immediate action against the four members mentioned above, post which the concerned officials from the TMC had to issue an order thereby suspend them from the project.

Since Ganeshotsav, huge number of potholes have increased on the main roads as well as internal roads in Thane which has been affecting the traffic and causing long queues. The inspection tour for Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde was hence organised and take a note of the negligence, he also slammed officials from various government agencies in front of the media. Besides the above mentioned people, he had also ordered suspension of others officers who were involved in delaying the work.
