The Maharashtra Cabinet on Thursday, January 4, cleared the proposal on toll rates on the MTHL in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Commuters will have to pay INR 250 per trip for a single car to use India’s longest sea bridge, also known as Atal Setu.

According to the note, the toll will increase by 6% every year. Apart from cars, mini buses will pay INR 560, bus/2-axle trucks INR 1,180, 3-axle trucks INR 1,290, 4-6 axle vehicles INR 1,850 and oversized vehicles INR 2,250.

Cabinet Minister Deepak Kesarkar stated that it is the cheapest per km toll across the country. 

It is pertinent to note that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had initially fixed INR 500 as a toll for a single trip, but the Urban Development Department (UDD) brought it down to INR 350 per car. However, after much discussion, the state cabinet fixed it to ₹250 for a single trip.

The much-awaited Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 12.
