Despite repeated warnings from authorities, motorists continue to violate traffic rules on the newly opened Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link by stopping vehicles to take selfies, shoot reels, and click photographs.
According to highway police, action was taken against 204 vehicles within a week for illegal parking and obstructing traffic movement along the high-speed corridor. Officials said fines exceeding INR 1 lakh were collected during the crackdown.
Police stated that many commuters have been halting vehicles near tunnels and the cable-stayed bridge, creating safety risks on the access-controlled expressway where vehicles travel at high speeds.
Authorities have repeatedly appealed to travellers not to stop on the route, stressing that the Missing Link is meant for faster connectivity and not tourism activities. Surveillance and enforcement have now been intensified to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow.
