Two people have lost their lives in separate accidents on the Western Express Highway (WEH) in Mumbai. The first incident happened at Vile Parle on February 1, while the second took place at Borivali on February 3.

Incident 1

On February 3, around 5 a.m., a speeding vehicle lost control on Magathane Bridge. It was travelling south from Dahisar when it crossed the divider and entered the northbound lane.

A BEST bus was coming from the opposite direction. The bus driver tried to steer left to avoid the crash. However, it caused the steering to jam. The bus also crossed the divider and collided with the vehicle. A person named Amit Agarwal was inside the car when the accident happened. During the crash, the bus’s left tire in front punctured, bringing the vehicle to a stop.

The police and fire department arrived at the scene. They pulled Agarwal from the car and took him to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West. Doctors declared him dead. The BEST bus driver was identified as Amrutlal Pal, and the conductor as Bhailal Nohar. The Kasturba Police registered a case against Agarwal. 

Incident 2

In another incident on February 1, a 60-year-old man was hit by an unknown vehicle at Centre Bridge in Vile Parle. The accident happened in the northbound lane on a slope. The police took the victim to Cooper Hospital in Juhu at 12:15 am. At 2:30 am, doctors confirmed his death.

The police did not find any identification or devices on him. His identity is still unknown. The driver is also unidentified. Investigations for both incidents are ongoing.
