The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has said that the city will face water shortage on Wednesday, March 20, as the corporation will shut supply from one of its main supply lines to accommodate works on widening of National Highway 3.
Two water pipelines of the TMC are obstructing the widening work of the National Highway between Sonale Junction and Kalyan Phata Junction.
Accordingly, the corporation has decided to shut supply from one of the lines for 12 hours to facilitate the work starting 9 am. Consequently, the city will get 30% less supply, officials said.

Due to shutdown, there is possibility of reduced supply pressure for the next two days before normalcy is restored. However, water supply will be continued by zoning at various places in Thane city. Therefore, the supply will be at low pressure during this period.
The civic body has appealed citizens to store and use water judiciously.
