The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced water cut and low pressure water supply in several parts of the city for 24 hours from Thursday, January 4.

Owing to a repair work of a pipeline water supply to several parts of Mumbai city and suburbs including Malabar Hill, Dadar, Lower Parel, Kurla and Powai is likely to be affected on January 4 and 5.

This development came as a leakage was detected on a 900 mm cross-connection between Upper Vaitarna and Vaitarna lakes near Powai, civic officials said.

In a statement, BMC said the repair work will be taken up starting 10 am on January 4 till 10 am on January 5 during a 24-hour window and water supply to several wards will be affected during this time.

The areas to be affected will include all the localities in south Mumbai including Malabar Hil, Churchgate and Marine Lines, whose water supply is fed from Malabar Hill reservoir.

The BMC has also said that the Azad Maidan reservoir would see a 10% cut in water supply.

Meanwhile, parts of L ward (Kurla, Chandivali) in the eastern suburbs will see water cut in areas like Upper Tunga, Lower Tunga, Marva, Raheja Vihar, Chandivali Farm Road, Saki Vihar Road, and Sakinaka.

Similarly, parts of S ward (Kanjurmarg) will witness water cut in the afternoon between January 4 and 5.
