Mumbai is witnessing a cold weather with the minimum temperature in the city falling below normal for the past two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the for the first time, city's night time minimum temperature fell under 20 degrees Celsius on November 11.

With this, city marked its coolest temperature this season — settling at 19.8 degrees Celsius. This was down from 21.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier, on Wednesday, November 10, and 23.4 degrees Celsius on Monday.

This is as per data from the IMD observatory in Santacruz, taken as representative of Mumbai. On the other hand, according to the IMD observatory in Colaba, the temperature remained relatively warmer at 22.5 degrees Celsius on the same.

However, the department also predicted that it is likely to stay below normal through the weekend. As per IMD’s Santacruz observatory, the city, on Friday morning as on 8:30 am, recorded a minimum and maximum temperature of 21 and 34.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Whereas, Colaba observatory recorded a minimum and maximum temperature at 23 and 33.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, the air quality in the city has remained in the ‘moderate’ category of the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) air quality index (AQI) bulletin — settling at 174 on Thursday.
