Service excellence and employee dedication were highlighted during the 70th Railway Week celebrations of Western Railway, as the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (VRSP) 2025 ceremony was recently organised in Mumbai. The event was conducted at the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium and was attended by senior officials and representatives from various departments of the organisation. The ceremony was held as part of the annual Railway Week observances, during which achievements and contributions across the Railways are formally recognised.
It was announced that a total of 92 officers and staff members of Western Railway were conferred with the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (VSRP) for their outstanding and meritorious service. The awards were presented by the General Manager (Looking After), Western Railway, and were intended to acknowledge consistent performance, commitment, and dedication displayed by employees in their respective roles. The initiative was described as a means of reinforcing motivation and fostering a culture of excellence within the organisation.
According to official statements, the award function is organised every year to recognise employees who successfully manage operational challenges while maintaining efficiency and service quality. It was emphasised that such recognition not only rewards individual effort but also serves as encouragement for the wider workforce. The role of employees in supporting organisational growth and ensuring smooth railway operations was repeatedly underlined during the ceremony.
The presence of senior leadership added significance to the event. Representatives from the Western Railway Women Welfare Organization, along with Principal Heads of Departments, Divisional Railway Managers, Chief Workshop Managers, and other senior officers, were reported to have attended the programme. Their participation was viewed as a demonstration of institutional support for recognising employee contributions at all levels.
During the address delivered at the function, appreciation was conveyed to the award recipients, and recent accomplishments of Western Railway were outlined. It was stated that these achievements had been made possible through collective effort and sustained commitment from employees across departments. The workforce was encouraged to continue contributing towards organisational progress and the broader development of the Railways and the nation.
In addition to individual awardees, senior officers were also felicitated with mementos for their performance during the year. Furthermore, seven recipients of the Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (AVRSP) 2025, which had earlier been conferred during the National Railway Week celebrations in New Delhi, were honoured once again at the regional level.
The ceremony was complemented by cultural programmes, adding a celebratory dimension to the proceedings. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by the Chief Personnel Officer (IR), Western Railway, and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Deputy General Manager (G). Overall, the ceremony was presented as a reaffirmation of Western Railway’s commitment to recognising merit, encouraging dedication, and celebrating the collective achievements of its workforce.
