Mumbai Police, in collaboration with MHB Police, arrested two burglars who had managed to avoid police for over a year. The culprits were identified as Ishtiyaque Ansari and Sunil Kumar Parikshat. They were finally brought to justice for their involvement in many burglaries.

The case came to the attention of the MHB police station last year. However, at that time, there was little information available about them. As a result, the police filed "A Summary" in the Borivali magistrate court. A summary means that the case is valid but the defendants are hiding.

The breakthrough in the case came when a police officer from MHB spotted one of the suspects who had been detained by the Borivali police in connection with another burglary case. This happened while they were being shown to other police stations in Mumbai by city police through video conference. This led to the unravelling of the criminals' activities and the subsequent arrest of the second suspect, who was hiding in Ambarnath.

It was revealed that Ishtiyaque Ansari, who is blind in one eye, employed a person as a garbage collector to carry out the burglaries. Ansari would visit buildings without a watchman. He pretended to collect trash while discreetly checking locked homes and apartments. Once he identified potential targets, Ansari would inform his accomplice, Sunil Kumar Parikshat. Parikshat would then break the door locks and steal valuables from the premises.

During this time, the duo managed to steal goods worth INR 3.6 lakh in three separate burglaries within the jurisdiction of the MHB police station. One notable case involved the theft of valuables and jewellery from a residence in Dahisar West on October 31, 2022.

The investigation into the case was led by Assistant Police Inspector Suryakant Pawar, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajaykumar Bansal and Senior Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar. During interrogation, Ansari disclosed the identity of his partner-in-crime, Sunil Kumar Parikshat. He was subsequently arrested in Ambarnath too.

While arresting, the police seized a cellphone and counterfeit jewelry with an estimated worth of INR 14,000 from the suspects. The investigation also uncovered three additional joint offenses committed by the accused within the jurisdiction of the MHB police station. It was later revealed that both Ansari and Parikshat had a history of committing burglaries in Thane City.
