Thane district superintendent of police Mahesh Patil has constituted a special squad to keep a check on the rising crimes on the illegal practices in the district.
Deputy Superintendent of Nakul Nyaymane, who led the Special Squad on Saturday night, raided Room No. 212 at the Kashimira Shivani Guest House and nabbed two people betting on the ongoing T-20 cricket match between Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The names of the accused are - Mohammad Afzal Khan (37) and Vijay Dilip Kuril (31).
While three of the group managed to escape, the police seized Rs 76,610 in cash from the accused along with the literature used for betting.
