Powai - 8 persons drowned when a boat toppled in Powai lake. 5 of them are saved while 3 are dead. Around 11 pm around 8 people went on boat for a party. The boat hit a rod and started drowning. When these people screamed for help locals saved 5 of them - Paresh Pancholi (34), Kunal Patil (35), Rasool Khan (43), Atif Khan (22) and Dinesh Bhoir (23). Fire brigade stared looking out for rest 3 including Deepak Patil (24), Naresh Patil (46) and boatman Abu Mandal (21) and they are found dead. Police called for Navy and NDR but in vain. " Boats are not allowed in this lake so how did these people manage, police are investigating on these lines", said senior inspector Bhai Mahadeshwar .
