Mumbai division of Central Railway's (CR) Government Railway Police (GRP) has detained a 35-year-old man for allegedly molesting a minor on a local train.

The incident occurred around 4 pm in a CSMT-bound slow train. The two were commuting in the train between Vikhroli and CSMT. The victim was a 17-year-old college student travelling with a friend in the general compartment of the train and they were going for shopping. The accused, Israr Hussain, allegedly touched her inappropriately.

One of the two victims called for help using the police control line, and a group of police officers boarded the train at Sion station and apprehended the suspect.

Hussain works as a labourer and resides in Wadala with no prior criminal history. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, 2012 and taken to the Kurla GRP post after being deboarded from the train.
