Mumbai police is investigating the death of a 60-year-old woman found dead in her room at the Trident Hotel in Nariman Point on the afternoon of January 19. An Accidental Death (AD) report has been filed at the Marine Drive Police Station.
The woman had been staying alone at the hotel since January 6. Hotel staff discovered her body and immediately alerted the police. Officers took over the scene upon arrival.
According to initial findings, there were no visible injuries on the body. Investigators have found nothing unusual at the scene. Following a post-mortem, the police retained her organs for further examination to find the cause of death.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel to gather more clues. Hotel staff are being questioned as part of the investigation. Police are also interviewing the woman’s family and friends to obtain more information.
As per reports, the police say there is no indication of foul play at this stage.
In a similar incident, the murder of a woman whose body was found in a sack next to the Mumbai Metro car shed on August 24 in Mankhurd has been solved by Zone VI police officials, including the Trombay cops.
The culprits were about 200 to 300 meters from the body's location, but no clues were located despite teams from different police stations coming together to examine CCTV footage and analyze cell phone data.
