A woman kidnapped her friend's six-month-old baby and sold it to a woman in Jharkhand for INR 2 lakh. The child was traced from a Naxalite area in Jharkhand. He was then handed over to his parents. The names of the arrested accused are Afroz Sheikh (26), Shambhu Sahu (50) and Manju Devi Saw (34). Police said that Manju Devi did this as she was not having a child.


Shahana Ansari from Bhiwandi had gone to the market to go shopping with her friend on the occasion of Ramzan on April 14. At that time, she kept her baby at a friend's house. After Shahana noticed that the child was missing after returning home, she lodged a complaint at the Shanti Nagar police station. The police team started investigating the case. When the police checked the CCTV footage of the area, it became clear that Shahana's girlfriend's husband, Afroz Shaikh, had abducted the boy.

Police immediately detained Afroz from Shantinagar. When he was interrogated, he said that he had given the boy to Shambhu for sale due to increased debt. After that, the police immediately detained Shambhu from the Kalyan railway station area based on technical analysis. When interrogated, he confessed to selling the child to a woman from Jharkhand for INR 2 lakh. A police team then went to Jitkudi village in Jharkhand and detained Manjudevi and the child.
