11-year-old boy drowns in a pit dug for a construction site in Chembur

As per reports, the boy jumped into the water to swim along with his friends, but did not return. His friends shouted for help and he was announced dead at the hospital.

In a recent incident, an 11-year-old boy drowned in a pit which was dug during the construction of a residential tower in Chembur

Reports revealed that the construction was being carried out at the premises of Deserve Builders at Chembur-based Om Ganesh Nagar, near the RCF Police station. It is said that a pit was dug at that location to lay the foundation of the building, however, it was filled with rainwater, as the city has witnessed rainfall over the last few days.

Children living closeby were also coming to swim in it. However, on Saturday, September 12, 2020, 11-year-old Tejveer Jasbir Singh jumped into the water with his friends to swim in the water, collected in the pit. His friends were worried as he did not return to the surface, and ushered to call for assistance. 

Upon shouting a few people gathered around and pulled Tejveer out of the pit. He was rushed to Rajwadi Hospital for treatment but was declared dead by the doctors.

The case has been registered at RCF police station, and officials are looking into the matter.
