A 50-year-old scientist working at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) in Trombay was found dead by suicide on Monday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Manish Somnath Sharma, who was working as a Scientific Officer in BARC since 2000. He lived with his wife Neetu in one of the BARC quarters.
According to Trombay police, Neetu reached home from work around 2:37 pm on Monday and used her spare key to enter. She found Sharma hanging from the ceiling fan using a nylon rope in the hall room.

A Handwritten suicide letter
Neetu immediately called for help and neighbours and passersby rushed to help. They managed to pin Sharma down on the floor. An ambulance was called to BARC Hospital located in Anushakthi Colony, Chembur, but unfortunately, Sharma was declared dead before reaching the hospital.
On inspection of Sharma's residence, the police and forensic team found a handwritten suicide letter on his hall room table. Neetu told the police that her husband was suffering from depression since 2001 and was receiving treatment for his condition at the psychiatry department of BARC hospital. He was also taking medicine.
