It all happened in Sion where Haider Ali Jahid Ali (55), a resident of Dharavi 90 feet road, parked his Activa after repairing it. But Haider Ali didn’t realise until bike rider passing by told him that the bike is emitting smoke. Haider Ali somehow parked the bike and fled but it was the braveheart traffic police who sported real guts and parked the bike on the side and called the fire-brigade. And then it was Assistant Police Inspector Prasad Sool, who took the matter into his own hands and extinguished the fire by taking water from the tanker that was passing by. Sensing that the entire could be a huge desire, he thought it better to not to wait for the fire brigade officials.
The real heroes who helped avert such a huge disaster were Matunga Traffic Department’s Rider Ajar Nagarji, Sanap, Khandangle, Kadam, and Police-constable Bade. Moreover, what havoc the incident would have wreaked, given there was a petrol pump quite close by and had the traffic police officials not exhibited alertness. So far, the reason for the bike catching fire stays unknown.
