The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sped up actions against unauthorised hawkers. From 28 June to 30 June 30, 2024, stringent actions were taken against 538 hawkers in various areas across Mumbai and suburbs.

These areas include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Mumbai High Court, Churchgate to Bombay High Court (HC), Colaba Causeway, Mohammed Ali Road, Lokmanya Tilak Road, the area around Lalbaugcha Raja, Dadar (West) Railway Station, Link Road, Hill Road, Andheri (West) Railway Station, Mathuradas Road, Borivali (West) Railway Station, and Kurla (West) Railway Station.

To review the situation, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani made a surprise visit to Dadar (West) Railway Station area, this afternoon. He inspected Senapati Bapat Marg, passenger lanes under Keshavsut Flyover, M. C. Javale Road, Dr. D'Silva Road, Ranade Road, and nearby areas.

BMC officials said: “The eviction of unauthorized hawkers has been accelerated across Mumbai, with a particular focus on congested areas and overcrowded railway station premises.”

A large quantity of equipment were seized during the action. The the drive against unauthorized hawkers will continue, they added.
