In connection to the CBSE Mathematics (Class X) and Economics (Class XII) paper leak, the Chatra district police have arrested 12 students from Bihar and Jharkhand, including ABVP (the student wing of BJP) Jharkhand leader Satish Pandey.

The paper was leaked from Patna and it reached Chatra through WhatsApp, said Akhilesh B Variar, Superintendent of Police, Chatra district (Jharkhand) while addressing a press conference.

According to the police, ABVP leader runs a coaching centre in Chatra and those who have been arrested include nine minor students, who have been sent to remand home in Hazaribagh.

Apart from owning a coaching centre, ABVP leader Pandey is also a Chatra district co-ordinator. The district police chief said that it was Pandey who took money from the students for leaked questions.

Mumbai Congress tweeted on the same calling Satish Pandey, ABVP District Coordinator as the main culprit in the CBSE paper leak.

The CBSE leaked paper, which was even circulated on social media application WhatsApp was initially sold off for ₹35,000, but the prices later dropped to ₹5,000, according to media reports.

The papers of Class 12 Economics was held on March 26, and Class 10 Maths, held on March 28, were leaked on social media hours before the examination.

A first information report (FIR) earlier revealed that the Central Board of Secondary Education had received an e-mail on March 28 at 1:29 AM with 12 images of the CBSE Class X mathematics paper, but the CBSE completely ignored the tip-off sent by a person yet to be identified, according to media reports.

In a recent development, the CBSE announced that the class XII Economics exam will take place on April 25 and said that the date for a retest for Mathematics would likely take place in July and for the region of Delhi NCR and Haryana.
