26 of 70 missing COVID-19 positive patients from Malad still missing

Mumbai is one of the worst impacted cities in India due to the coronavirus outbreak. BMC has been trying hard to get the rate under control and also deal with the monsoon-related concerns. There is another issue that has recently come to light.

On Tuesday, June 23, more than 70 patients who tested positive for coronavirus, had gone missing from Mumbai's P-Ward comprising of several areas in Malad. This locality was recently marked as a new spot for Coronavirus cases and the BMC has reached out to the police seeking help to begin searching these patients. 

BMC Cheif Iqbal Singh Chhal had requested the Mumbai Police to help in finding these missing people. For this exercise, BMC has submitted the phone number, address and other details of these 70 people to the Mumbai Police.

Through the efforts of Mumbai Police, 44 people from this list have now been found. While 26 still remain missing. Since the BMC officials had shared the list of missing patients along with their personal details that included mobile and Aadhar numbers and handed it over to the police, they were able to trace 44 of these through phone tracing. Out of these 44 patients that have been traced, four have died while 17 are living within the limits of Kurar police station. 

Meanwhile, Dindoshi police have traced the remaining 19 patients including three accused and have admitted them to the hospital. The police booked the three accused on the charge of theft and quarantined them after they tested positive. The search for the remaining patients is ongoing.
