The special investigation team (SIT) of Mumbai crime branch has recovered a ‘suicide note’ from Darshan Solanki’s hostel room who committed suicide on February 12. The first year B. Tech student from IIT-B, Solanki wrote in his note just four words ‘Arman has killed me’. The Arman referred to in the note is believed to be a reference to his classmate Arman Iqbal Khatri.

After the incident, Powai police took statements from 22 people including students and faculty members of the institute as well as Darshan’s parents. Police registered an accidental death report (ADR) and searched his room before preparing the panchnama. Then no suicide note was found, said senior inspector Budhan Sawant from Powai police station to Hindustan Times.

An investigating officer from SIT said that they were lucky to locate the note after moving the chair in hostel room number 802 which was found lying under the table where he used to study. He added that the family has been informed about the note and they haven’t filed a formal complaint yet.

Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased confirmed the handwriting and the officers too matched the handwriting with Solanki’s notebooks. The note has been sent to the handwriting bureau on March 20 for an analysis, as told to Hindustan Times.
