An 11-year-old boy from Ektanagar drowned in a village pond near Nandivali on Malang road in Kalyan East. The boy was missing since Sunday. The boy's body was found floating in the lake on Wednesday afternoon. After his identification, it was revealed that he is a resident of Dombivli, informed Senior Police Inspector Suresh Madane, in-charge of Manpada Police Station.
The dead boy has been identified as Karthik Gotiram Pawar (11). His parents are labour workers. Karthik was fond of catching crabs from the lake shore. Earlier he used to go towards Nandivali to catch crabs in the lake. Due to heavy rains, crabs come out in large numbers in ponds and fields these days. Police have received information that Karthik was aware of this.
Police Inspector Suresh Madane said, Karthik's parents left for work on Sunday morning. Without informing his parents, Karthik secretly went to the pond towards Nandivali on the Malang road with the equipment to catch crabs in the afternoon. Preliminary information has been received that while catching crabs there, he lost his balance and drowned in the lake. After returning home from work, Karthik was not at home and his parents searched for him around the house but he was nowhere to be found.
Parents reported Karthik missing at Tilak Nagar police station. Even Karthik's friends did not know where he had gone. Tilaknagar police, Karthik's parents were searching for him for two days. On Wednesday afternoon, Police Inspector Madane of Manpada Police Station received information that a body of a youth was seen floating in a lake near the RTO Vehicle Inspection Center near Nandivali village. He immediately went to the spot with his colleagues and took possession of the body. Information was sought as to which police station in Dombivli, Kalyan area the complaint of the missing boy has been filed. Manpada police got the information that such a complaint has been filed in Tilak Nagar police station.
