Jalaj Dhir, the 18-year-old son of director Ashwni Dhir, died on November 23, 2024 in a car accident on the Western Expressway in Vileparle, Mumbai. According to reports, Jalaj had invited friends to his home in Goregaon to play video games. Later he and his three friends Sahil Mendha (18), Sarth Kaushik (18) and Jayden Jimmy (18) went out for a drive. Then they stopped at a restaurant. The accident happened while returning from there.
According to a report by 'Indian Express', Jalaj's friend Sahil Mendha was driving the car and it has been alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol. Sahil was driving the car at high speed before the accident. After approaching the Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai, Sahil was confused whether to take the flyover or the service road to go to Goregaon. In this confusion he first took a left turn and then tried to go right. In the meantime, he lost control of the car and the car directly hit the divider pole. The details of this accident have been mentioned in the police complaint by Jalaj's friend Jaden.
Jalaj was going to IFFI in Goa
Jalaj Dhir was a BBA student and was going to attend the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa with his father. Ashwni Dhir's new film 'Hisab Baraab' was scheduled to premiere at the festival, but Jalaj had an unfortunate accident before that. Jalaj was cremated on November 24, 2024. A prayer meeting was held for Jalaj's death yesterday. Many famous people including producer JD Majethia, actor Rajesh Kumar attended this prayer meeting.
