A team of officials from Bureau of Indian Standards (BiS), Mumbai Branch Office conducted an Enforcement raid on July 3, 2023, on a manufacturing unit at Kandivali (East) and seized huge stock of control gear for LED modules without BIS certification.

Quickly acting on information received regarding violation of Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Quality Control Order 2021, a team of officials from Bureau of Indian Standards (BiS) Mumbai Branch Office-I conducted the raid at M/s JSK Innovative Technology Private Limited, C-207, 2nd  Floor, Jai Bonanza Industrial Estate, Ashok Chakravarti Road, Kandivali East, Mumbai- 400101, Maharashtra.

During the raid it was found that the company was manufacturing, storing and selling electronic control gear for LED modules. The control gear was not BIS certified as per IS 15885 (Part 2/Sec 13)which is a violation of Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of CompuIsory Registration) Quality Control Order 2021. Huge amount of such electronic control gear& its labels found during the raid were seized, as Section 17(1) (a) of BIS Act 2016 had been violated. The violation of Section 17(1)(a) of BiS Act 2016 is punishable with imprisonment up to two years or a fine of minimum INR 2,00,000 or both as per BIS Act 2016. Action is being initiated to file a case in the court of law for the offence.

Therefore, all consumers are encouraged to use BIS CARE App (available both in Mobile Android and iOS) to find out the list of mandatory products which shall be BIS certified and are also requested to ascertain the genuineness of ISI Mark on the product before making purchase by visiting BIS website http://www.bis.gov.in.  Citizens are requested that in case they come across any instance where mandatory products are being sold without BIS certification, or where misuse of ISI Mark on any product is happening! the same may be informed to the Head, MUBO-I, Western Regional Office (BiS 5th Floor, CETTM complex, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai - 400076. Such complaints can also be made by E-mail at the address hmubol@bis.gov.in. The source of such information will be kept confidential.
