Famous Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar on Saturday filed an application seeking issuance of non-bailable warrant against actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut. Javed Akhtar has filed this application regarding Kangana Ranaut's absence in court.
Kangana Ranaut was bound to appear in court on Saturday, but she did not attend. Kangana had earlier sought a permanent exemption from appearing before the court. Javed Akhtar's lawyer Jai Bhardwaj brought this matter to the attention of the court. Importantly, this demand of Kangana was also rejected by the Sessions Court and the High Court.
A bailable warrant was issued against Kangana Ranaut on March 1, 2021. However, after Kangana Ranaut appeared in the court, the bailable warrant was cancelled. Javed Akhtar's lawyer said the actress has tried to delay the court proceedings and has no option but to issue a non-bailable warrant (NBW). However, the court stayed the application sought by Javed Akhtar and ordered Kangana Ranaut to appear before the court. It has been informed by the actress's lawyers that she will appear in court on September 9, 2024.

What is the matter?
The controversy is going on from a meeting held at Javed Akhtar's residence in 2016. Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut were at loggerheads after sending some emails to each other. Kangana said that Akhtar asked Hrithik Roshan to apologise during this meeting. In an interview in 2021, Kangana said that she found the meeting in 2016 humiliating. That is why they have approached the court claiming defamation against her. Kangana Ranaut also filed a case against Javed Akhtar in the court. However, the Dindoshi Sessions Court stayed the action against Akhtar.
In February, Kangana had sought stay of the case filed against her by Javed Akhtar. Along with that, the case filed by Akhtar against Kangana and her case against Akhtar are related to each other and Kangana demanded that they should be heard together.
Meanwhile, Kangana gave an interview for 2020, in it, she mentioned the meeting held with Javed Akhtar in 2016 and also made a statement about the dispute between Javed Akhtar and her. After that, Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against the actress.
