An unfortunate BEST bus accident took place at Lalbaug on Sunday. The accused Datta Shinde, who caused this accident, has been arrested by the police. From Ballard Pier, the BEST bus was on its way towards Sion. During this time, a scuffle broke out between Dutta Shinde and Best Bus driver. Following which, accused Datta Shinde pulled the steering wheel of the bus due to which the driver lost control of the bus and the accident occurred. In this accident, 8 people were injured while Nupur Maniyar, a girl, lost her life. A case of culpable homicide has been registered against Datta Shinde.

According to the police, accused Datta Shinde is also a resident of Lalbaug where he lives with his wife and son. He boarded bus number 66 to come home from Colaba but when the bus driver Kamlesh Prajapati refused to stop the bus midway, this enraged Dutta who beat up the driver and turned the steering wheel. After which the driver lost control of the bus and the unfortunate accident took place.
