Mumbai: Lawyer attacked by goons with swords and rods in broad daylight; 3 arrested

Mumbai Police is investigating the matter and have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and rioting.

A lawyer was allegedly attacked in broad daylight by a group of goons who surrounded him and thrashed him with sticks and swords in Mumbai.

The incident occurred in the Borivali area within the limits of MHB police station, over a sub-judice property issue on July 8, said police.

The lawyer sustained serious injuries in this attack and is being treated at a hospital in Kandivali. However, he is out of danger now, reports suggested.

According to reports, three persons have been arrested for attacking the lawyer and an FIR has been registered too.

Meanwhile, MHB Police in Borivali (W) has booked 15-20 people for allegedly attacking a lawyer with sharp weapons like swords, knives and attempting to kill the advocate.

The shocking video shows a group of five-six men surrounding the lawyer and attacking him as people around stand mute and make no attempts to save him.

As per police, the incident occurred when the lawyer, Satyadev Joshi and his associate Ankit Tandon, had gone to survey the land with the client but was allegedly attacked by 40 to 50 goons with sword and iron roads.

Besides, the attack in broad daylight against a lawyer raises serious questions on the law and order in the metropolis.
