In the early hours of Sunday, December 12, a man was alleged to have beheaded his wife (26) at a lodge in Matheran, just six months into their marriage, reports stated. It has now been reported that the man has been detained by the Raigad police.

Based on accounts, Poonam Pal, the deceased worked at a private clinic as a nurse. Her husband, Ram Pal is an IT engineer. They resided in Navi Mumbai’s Panvel. It has been claimed by accounts that he killed her over suspicion that she had an extramarital affair.

Narratives have quoted, Ashok Dudhe, Raigad superintendent of police elaborating on how since the commencement of the marriage, Ram suspected Poonam of an extramarital affair. The police are yet to verify if the accused was two years younger than her.

On Saturday, December 11, evening, the pair checked into a lodge in Matheran, while in the early hours of Sunday, Ram killed his wife in the bathroom and allegedly beheaded her. Dudhe remarked, that the accused claims to have thrown the head in a valley, accounts mention.

Therefore, teams are now searching for it. An aggregate of five teams that also includes the Mumbai police is working on the case, Dudhe added, highlighted reports.

It has been claimed that identifying the couple was an uphill task for the authorities since the lodge hadn’t taken any identification from them. Luckily the police found Poonam’s purse near the lodge wherein they found a prescription.
