In a serious incident, a 30-year-old man attacked his girlfriend with a knife on suspicion that she was cheating on him. The incident took place in Santacruz East. This time the accused also attacked her friend. Both have been admitted to V.N. Desai Hospital for treatment and a case has been registered against the accused.


Urvi Rawal (31), a young woman, works in the field of event management. She had gone to celebrate her friend Faraj Ansari's (35) birthday. Ansari's friend Shazia Khan (complainant), Rawal and her friend Rifakat Wadgama and others were present on this occasion.


After celebrating Ansari's birthday around 5:00 am on Saturday, Rawal and others came for a walk near the Holy Cross community. At that time Rawal's lover Sameer Shaikh, who lives in Mumbra, came there.


Shaikh beat Rawal, grabbed her phone and pointed at Vadgama, asking who he was. Rawal replied that Vadgama was her friend. Shaikh then abused her, pulled out a knife and attacked Rawal. When Vadgama tried to save her, Sheikh also attacked him. Shazia Khan said in the complaint that Sheikh then fled from the spot.

Shazia and her other friends rushed the injured to the hospital. Based on Shazia's complaint, the Vakola police have registered a case of attempted murder against Sameer Shaikh and the search is on. Shazia said in the complaint that Rawal told that the accused Sheikh had been fighting with her for the last two months on the suspicion that Rawal was meeting another youth. Police are investigating further in this regard.
