The Marine Drive police has registered a case against a 50-year-old man who tried to commit suicide in front of the Mantralaya entrance in Nariman Point area on Monday afternoon. It has been revealed in the investigation that he took this step because the brother of the person who attempted suicide was killed and despite naming the suspects in the case they were not arrested. The police said that the person who tried to commit suicide was released with a notice.


The person who attempted suicide has been identified as Ashok Chaure (50). He tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on himself near the garden headquarters of the ministry. But the police kept a watchful eye and detained him. Choure lives in Baner, Pune but hails from Ramsgaon in Jalna.

His brother Kashinath Chaure (44) was killed. In that case, Ashok Chaure named six suspects to the police. But no arrest was made, hence he tried committing suicide. Police said they released Chaure serving a notice under Section 41 (a) (1) of the Criminal Penal Code.
