A hit and run case took place in Aarey Colony in Goregaon where a 24-year-old bike rider was hit by an SUV driven by a juvenile driver in the early hours of Thursday, August 29. 24-year-old Naveen Vaishnav died in the accident. The victim who worked as an early morning milk delivery lost his life in a hit and run. Relatives of the deceased have alleged that the minor driver was drunk at the time.
After hitting the bike rider, the SUV vehicle driven by a minor went ahead and hit an electric pole. As a result, four people sitting in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. The minor driver was about to flee when the police arrested him. After this, a case was registered against two people including the minor driver and the owner of the vehicle.
According to the police, Naveen Vaishnav had gone out to deliver milk in the early hours of Thursday morning. While passing through Aarey Colony, a SUV car came at high speed from the wrong direction and hit the bike. The police rushed to the spot and admitted Naveen to the hospital, however, doctors declared him dead.
The police have registered a case against the 17-year-old minor driver, Scorpio owner Iqbal Jiwani (48) and Mohammad Faz Iqbal Jiwani (21). After taking over the CCTV footage from the accident site, the police also seized the accident car. Blood samples of the minor driver have been taken and they have been sent for examination. Police have begun the investigation into whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
