A 38-year-old man has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly raping a doctor in Mumbai and later blackmailing her. According to Mumbai Police, the woman lodged a complaint at Gamdevi police station in South Mumbai alleging that the accused had befriended her during a badminton session at a club in Tardeo area. According to the police, the married woman was not living with her husband during this period due to some domestic issues.
The complainant alleged that the man had offered to talk to her over the matter, but when she went to meet him, the accused allegedly mixed intoxicants in her drink, following which she became unconscious and he had sex with her. Threatened to post photos and videos on social media, in October he asked for money from the woman. When she refused to give the money, he threatened to post the photos and videos on social media.
Police said the man has been arrested under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is underway.
