A 32-year-old chartered accountant died by suicide in Mumbai on Tuesday, July 8, after allegedly being blackmailed for over 18 months. The deceased, Raj Leela More, reportedly consumed poison. A three-page handwritten suicide note was also found in his office.
In the suicide note, he accused two individuals of leading to this step. The note identified Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi as the people who blackmailed him. More wrote that they used his private video to extort 3 crores from him.
According to the note, the two were aware of his successful career and earnings from the stock market. He said they forced him to transfer large sums of money from his company's accounts into their personal accounts.
More also mentioned in the note that the two forcibly took away a luxury car from him. Police said that his mother had informed them that he had been under severe mental pressure for the last few months.
More also wrote an apology to his mother. He also mentioned a woman named Poonam Aunty, asking her to look after his mother. He expressed regret and said he had arranged for money from multiple accounts to be passed on to his mother.
In the second part of the note, he wrote to his colleague, named Deepa Lakhani,Lakhani and said he was sorry for betraying her trust. He stated that he had committed the fraud alone and no one else knew about it. He specifically asked not to blame Jaiprakash and Shwetha, saying they were unaware of his actions.
On the third page, More blamed Rahul Parwani and Saba Qureshi for his death. He said they used blackmail and emotional manipulation to push him into transferring money and emptying his savings.
The police have registered a case under BNS sections 308(3), 308(2), 3(5), and 108. The two named individuals have been booked for extortion and abetment of suicide. As of now, no arrests have been made in the case.
